Slowly, slowly are we creating a Working Equitation body in Western Australia. The Western Australian branch of Australian National Working Equitation Ltd has now formed. Hopefully people have seen or are attending the clinics that are being advertised by the Western Australian Branch.
Many of the committee members enjoyed the clinic at Magenup Equestrian Centre in July coached by Rebecca Desmond. There were five group throughout the day ranging from beginners to those who will happily canter around all the obstacles. Despite the rain we had a great day learning how to negotiate all obstacles. You can see Vicki Tappers’ fantastic photos here!
As the sport grows we are going to need judges. Many of the committee members and others interested in the sport recently attended the Judges clinic last weekend ran by Glynis Dickson and Christine Fowles from the Australian National Working Equitation body. We had a fantastic day learning all the ins and outs of working equitation and its rules (click here for the rule book!) We really recommend before any clinic or competition to read the rule book. After this informative clinic we have the first of the Western Australian judges getting ready to judge yourselves at working equitation competitions.
As the sport grows in Western Australia (and Australia) we hope you will get involved. There are a couple of ways to do this:
- Join ANWE WA as a member!
- Come along to a clinic or competition.
- Form your own club!
- Keep up to date with our website and Facebook page.
